VeloFriend is built with a Privacy-First architecture. This policy explains how we handle your data, focusing on our commitment to local processing and user control.
1. Visibility & The Velo Beacon
VeloFriend offers three levels of visibility to ensure you are always in control of your digital presence:
Private (Stealth)
Profile Not Public: You are entirely invisible to other users. You do not appear in discovery or search, and your location is never shared. The Beacon is disabled.
Public Profile
Social Presence: You are visible in "Discovery" so friends can find you. A fuzzed location (randomly offset) is shown on the map to indicate your general area without revealing your exact coordinates.
Beacon Active
Ready to Ride: Your real-time location is shared on the map for up to 15 minutes to help others find you for a meetup. This will enforce a Public Profile.
Location Privacy Controls:
- Area Fuzzing: A public profile will add a random offset to your location, showing a general area instead of your exact coordinate.
- Local AI Analysis: Our algorithms process your fitness patterns locally on your device to determine your Athlete Archetype.
- Waves & Join Requests: Sending a "Wave" shares your nickname and fuzzed location with the recipient to facilitate the meetup via our secure chat.
- Virtual Velo: Other users can see your Virtual Velo's evolution stage, but not your private training logs.
- Revoke Access: You can disconnect Health Connect at any time via Android System Settings.
- Go Stealth: Switching your profile to "Private" instantly removes you from all live discovery features.
- Account Deletion: Deleting your account can be done by contacting VeloFriend support contact@getvelofriend.com.
2. Health Data & Athlete Type
We access fitness data via Google Health Connect or manual input to fuel your Velo-Gotchi and calculate your Rider DNA.
