Welcome to VeloFriend! We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information:
- Personal Data: When you register, we collect information such as your name, nickname, declared location and email address. If you choose to sign in using a Google Account, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture URL as provided by Google. You may also voluntarily provide information about your gender and primary cycling discipline (e.g., MTB, Road).
- Location Data: To help you find nearby riders and squads, we collect your device's location data while you are actively using the map features of the app.
- Strava Data: If you choose to connect your Strava account, we access your profile information and ride activities to display your stats and contribute to your VeloFriend athlete profile.
- Manual Ride Data: If you do not use Strava, you may enter ride data manually, including duration, distance, and elevation gain.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your VeloFriend account.
- Display your profile and location to other users on the map to facilitate connections.
- Calculate and display personal and community-wide cycling statistics.
- Enable communication features like "Waves" and ride proposals.
- Improve and personalize your app experience.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to provide app functionality:
- Google Sign-In: To allow you to securely log in to your account.
- Google Firebase: For authentication, database storage (Firestore), and app hosting.
- Strava API: To sync your cycling activities (if connected).
- Google Maps SDK: To provide mapping and location features.
Data Retention and Deletion
You can request the deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at contact@getvelofriend.com. Upon request, your account is deleted and all your personal data, including Strava synced activities and location history, will be permanently removed from our servers within 7 days, in accordance with Google Play Store requirements.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is securely stored on Google Firebase services. We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access or disclosure.
Data Sharing
Your profile name and location are shared with other users of the app to enable the core social features. We do not sell your personal data to third-party marketers.
Terms of Service
By using the VeloFriend app, you agree to these terms:
- User Conduct: You agree not to use the app to harass, intimidate, or impersonate other users. You will not use offensive, hateful, or inappropriate language in your profile name, nickname, or any other user-generated content.
- Account Responsibility: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activities that occur under your account.
- Service "As Is": The service is provided "as is" without any warranties. We do not guarantee that the app will be available at all times or be free of errors.
- Termination: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violating these terms.
