Connect VeloFriend to your ecosystem of fitness apps.
VeloFriend uses Google's Health Connect to securely pull your cycling activities from apps like Strava, Garmin Connect, and Samsung Health. This data fuels your Velo-Gotchi and helps our AI determine your Rider DNA.
If you are on Android 14 or higher, Health Connect is built into your system settings. If you are on Android 13 or lower, you may need to download the Health Connect app from the Google Play Store.
Open the VeloFriend app and navigate to your Profile screen. Tap the Settings icon (gear) in the top right corner.
Look for the "Google Health Connect" toggle and switch it on.
A system dialog will appear asking you to grant VeloFriend permission to access your health data. To get the best experience, we recommend enabling:
Ensure that your primary tracking app (like Strava or Garmin) is also connected to Health Connect. Most apps have this setting under "Data Sharing" or "Connected Apps".
It can sometimes take a few minutes for new data to propagate. Ensure both VeloFriend and your tracking app have "Read/Write" permissions enabled in the Android Health Connect settings menu.
Remember: VeloFriend processes all synced health data locally on your phone. Your raw heart rate or power data is never sent to our servers; we only store the resulting "Athlete Type" badge if you choose to display it.
